Well, the warrior would care about the energy loss if he were the one casting the spell, since it would end abruptly after a couple hits when his energy goes to 0. If it were an ele casting the spell and the warrior hammering away, that could be very effective, although it would drain the ele's energy like nuts. I still think something like gale would be more effective at keeping a monk knocked down, since it frees up an elite slot among other things.

I don't think you'd want to be triggering Thunderclap by using a Warrior with an Axe or Sword. Thunderclap consumes 7 energy at 16 Air Magic, and 9 energy at 12, every activation. Losing 7 energy every 1.75 seconds adds up pretty fast.

You also cannot use a zealous and deal elemental damage at the same time. Unless you want to use Greater Conflagration or something.

If you cast Thunderclap on an enemy, everytime you hit them with Lightning damage they are knocked down. Spells like this really assist Conjure Lightning.

Ok it's actually the person that casted the hex losing the energy per trigger.
@Eclair: The zealous was assuming you cold switch between elemental and zealous weapons on downtimes between setting up the TC knockdowns. That's probably suboptimal though.
@Aug: An old build idea was to spec a 16 Air Ele/mes with TC and Arcane Mimcry to steal Elemental Attunement off another Ele on the team and go nuts with 80% reduced Orb/Strike/Chain/Channeling/Power Drain stuff so you'd neber end the TC too soon. But it's never been tested yet although you did bring up a good point: losing that much energy every 1.75 secs is dangerous(high risk, very high reward though) and is enough to make any energy denial mesmer wet his pants.
